Plan Ahead For Black Friday 2011

Black Friday, which occurs the day after Thanksgiving, is quickly developing into a holiday of its own. Stores spend much of the year planning out the best deals and greatest marketing strategies to utilize on consumers in preparation of Black Friday. Although some people knock Black Friday as being too crazy or extravagant, it's actually a really good time for prepared shoppers. Planning ahead is crucial to making the experience  a postive one.

First things first, do your research. Start following Internet deal sites as early as October, if you want to get the inside scoop ahead of everyone else. Even stores that are particuarly protective of their sales will generally begin leaking hints to the deals they plan to offer weeks ahead of the big event. Go through the ads, pick out the items you are interested in buying and since many retailers offer similar deals do your homework to find out which one is offering the best deal. Finally, come up with a final list of the best and second best deals in each category, listed by the retailer that offers them.

Now you have to determine which store you want to start out. Timing is crucial during Black Friday, if you aren't in line at just the right time it could throw off your plans for the entire day. If you've got more than one store offering products that you are interested in, you have to be prepared to make a choice. Some people choose quantity, others select the retailer that is offering the top item on their list and commit themselves to being there on time. For those who plan on going to a large, popular retailer like Target first, it is crucial to get in line hours before the sale is scheduled to start. Retailers open their doors earlier every year, some sales began as early as 10PM on Thanksgiving during Black Friday 2011. To get the best deals, you may find yourself heading out the door before your turkey has even had time to digest. Thankfully, moods are good and excitement is high amongst most Black Friday crowds. There are even some retailers, in some cities, that have begun permitting customers to wait inside for the sale to begin and skip the outdoor line all together.

When you get into the top store of your choice immediately hone in on your most-desired item and snap it up as quickly as possible. If you've got a group of people who want to shop with you splitting them up amongst items is a good idea, occasionally shoppers will even form impromptu teams amongst one another once they get in the store. It's generally advised that you wait until after hitting up stores like Wal-Mart and K-Mart before heading out to smaller outfits.

Black Friday really can be fun and you can get some great deals, if you plan ahead. Lastly, in addition to strategizing the best shopping itenerary, for your own well-being it is a good idea to throw a few snacks and some water in your purse or bag. However, do not bring more than you are willing to carry for long hours in large crowds. All that's left is simply to enjoy the day and get as many great deals as possible!
